Proposing on Anglesey’s Beaches: Rhosneigr, Rhoscolyn and Beaumaris

A beach proposal on Anglesey gives you wide skies, soft light and room to breathe. Llanddwyn and South Stack get most of the attention, but the island has quieter corners that suit a proposal just as well.

I'm Leon, a proposal photographer and celebrant based in Llandudno. Here are three Anglesey spots I would happily suggest, each with a different mood.

Rhosneigr: Big Sand and Open Sky

Rhosneigr sits on the west coast, with long sandy beaches either side of the village. It is popular with surfers and kite-flyers on breezy days, so think about a calmer evening, or walk a little further along the sand to find space. The sunsets over the sea can be spectacular. Low tide gives you the most room and the best reflections.

Rhoscolyn: Coves and Cliff Paths

Rhoscolyn, on Holy Island, feels more tucked away. A sheltered cove gives you an easy place to begin, and the coast path leads on to rocky headlands with views out to sea. It suits couples who like a short walk before the moment, and it photographs beautifully when the light drops low and warm.

Beaumaris: The Menai Strait and the Mountains

Beaumaris is not a wild beach, but its seafront looks across the Menai Strait to the mountains of Eryri. On a clear evening that backdrop is hard to beat. It is busier than the other two, so an early morning or an off-season weekday keeps things private.

Tides, Wind and Privacy

Check the tide on Admiralty EasyTide before you fix a time, because sand appears and disappears quickly on this coast. Bring a layer for the wind, even in summer. I will help you pick a spot where your partner will not spot me early, as I explain in how to keep a proposal a secret. For other Anglesey ideas, see Llanddwyn Island: timing, tides and where to stand.

Not Set on Anglesey?

These are suggestions, not limits. You can choose anywhere, from the Llŷn and Eryri to Conwy, Llandudno, the north-east or your own garden.

Sand underfoot, the sea behind you and your words read aloud before the question. Find out how it works on the guided proposals page, or tell me which beach you have your eye on.
