Proposal photoshoot ideas usually focus on the ring, but the best photographs often come from the moments around it. The nervous wait, the reaction and the long hug afterwards tell the whole story.
I'm Leon, an accredited celebrant and proposal photographer based in Llandudno. Photography and Polaroid keepsakes are part of every Guided Proposal Ceremony, so here is what I look for.
The Anticipation
Your proposal is captured as it unfolds, starting before the question. A glance over a shoulder or a hand checking a pocket for the ring box says so much.
The Letter Stays Private
While I read your Love Letter, my camera rests at my waist. That part belongs to the two of you, so I only lift the camera once the letter is put away.
Down on One Knee
Then comes the moment itself: the kneel, the question and the answer. Choose a spot with an open background, such as the beach at Llanddona or the shore of Llyn Ogwen, so nothing distracts from you both.
The Reactions
Tears, laughter and a long hug all follow. I keep photographing through everything that comes next, because these candid frames are often the favourites.
Polaroids in Your Hands
Alongside your photography collection, you receive Polaroid keepsakes, a lovely way to hold on to the feeling of the day.
A Few Relaxed Pictures Afterwards
Once the nerves settle, a few unhurried pictures walking together round things off. If you would like more later, an engagement shoot adds another set to your Love Story Album.
Your Place, Your Choice
You can choose anywhere: your home or garden, elsewhere in the UK, or abroad. Dogs are welcome in the frame too.
What Comes Next
Your proposal brings 10% off an Elope with Leon elopement, so the same lens can follow your wedding.
Good photographs follow the feeling rather than a pose. Read guided proposal or hidden photographer, see the Guided Proposal Ceremony at £695.00 on the services page, then plan your proposal photographs with me.
