What to wear when you propose is one of those questions that quietly worries people. You want to look like yourselves, feel comfortable and still have photographs you love for years to come.
I'm Leon, an accredited celebrant and proposal photographer based in Llandudno. Here is the outfit advice I give couples before a guided proposal.
Dress for the Place
A beach at Rhoscolyn calls for different shoes to a woodland walk at Gwydir Forest. Think about the ground you will stand on, and choose footwear you can walk in confidently, because you may be kneeling on sand, grass or rock.
Plan for Welsh Weather
Layers are your friend. A smart coat over a jumper photographs beautifully and keeps you warm if the wind picks up. Pack a spare layer in the car, just in case.
Choose Colours That Sit Well Together
Soft neutrals, deep greens, navy and warm earthy tones look lovely against the coast and hills. Avoid large logos and very busy patterns, which can pull attention from your faces.
Dress Up Without Giving It Away
If your partner usually wears walking gear, suggest a nice dinner afterwards. It gives them a reason to make an effort without suspecting anything.
Wear Something You Feel Like Yourself In
The best photographs come from couples who feel relaxed. A favourite shirt or dress will always beat something brand new that you keep adjusting.
Your Proposal Photographs
With the Guided Proposal Ceremony, your photographs and Polaroid keepsakes capture the moment, and the images become the first chapter of your Love Story Album. It is £695.00 on the services page, and proposal photoshoot ideas shows what to expect.
Anywhere You Choose
You can choose anywhere for your proposal: your home or garden, elsewhere in the UK, or abroad. Dress for wherever you decide.
Comfortable, warm and true to you is the only dress code that matters. Start planning your proposal with me and we will talk through the setting together.
